Ilene Eber has been a freelance photographer since the late 1970’s. Having earned a degree in English, she describes her photographs as “visual literature”. Primarily working in analog mediums, though she utilizes and admires the process of digital photography when called for, Ilene photographs and develops her work the “old-fashioned way”. Ilene’s black and white and hand-tinted work is developed and printed in a photographic dark room utilizing skills cultivated over the course of a fruitful career. Having studied the art of photography with luminaries such as Arnold Newman, Robert Steinberg (platinum printing), Bruce Barnbaum, Barbara Crane, Cole Weston, Linda Conner, Jerry Uelsmann, Dave Read, Silvia Lazama, and Tony Mendoza, Ilene’s keen eye and narrative sensibility has made her unique work a presence in the South Florida community for over 40 years. Her portfolio consists of uniquely presented everyday “reflections”, creatively designed portraits, and hand-painted black and white photographs.

In addition to her photographic career, Ilene is a writer and is currently working on multiple projects harnessing her talents in both mediums to create hybrid works based on her family history and personal relationships.

Ilene is a mother, grandmother, and an award winning Matzoh Ball Soup chef (true story!)

A native of Philadelphia, PA, Ilene currently lives in Miami, FL with her husband of 36 years, Bob.
